Alex Richman's playbook™
A guide to help coaches and future coaches. Created by former NCAA Division 1 guard Alex Richman.
Be the best coach that you can be!
I strive to get my knowledge of the game out to others who need more. The kids are the future of basketball and us as coaches need to guide them in the right direction. Whether it is with plays from my playbook here or us as coaches guiding them with life teachings it's our duties as coaches.
THIS WEEKS PLAY OF THE WEEK IS TOP. TAKE A LOOK AT THE PLAY BELOW.
Top is a great zone play, it can be for a quick shot, a high low look, and it is also a continuous play; meaning you can run it over and over again until you find the shot you want! PG has the ball at the top of the key with two wing guys free throw line extended, two big men on each block. PG passes away from the better shooting wing player. Opposite big man will flash to ball side elbow. PG will then step in and screen top guy for opposite wing to slide behind him for a shot. No shot, then PG after the screen will slide out to the wing. Ball is passed from top of the key to wing now; the two big men will diagonal cut. Meaning, elbow guy goes block and block guy goes elbow. Play is repeated until the shot you want is there! Any questions or feedback on this play is always welcomed. I thank you for viewing this play and my cite and also a huge thank you for coaching!
